The French Livai is advancing today toward a new milestone in his artistic journey. Known for his cinematic aesthetics and a visual signature blending Asian influences, fashion, and storytelling, he has now chosen to open a more intimate door: music. "On My Way" marks that moment when a creator decides no longer to hide behind imagery, but to let his voice carry what he did not yet dare to express otherwise.
His universe has been built between France, Seoul, and Tokyo—three places shaping his outlook as much as his identity. In his videos, photos, and content, this particular sensitivity is already present: a blend of softness, precision, and vulnerability. Music extends this language, revealing a more personal, fragile, and sincere side of the artist.
With this first original track, Livai does not seek to prove something; he seeks to be true to himself. Following his own path, affirming his choices, accepting his doubts, transforming his hesitations into creation. "On My Way" thus becomes the reflection of a life moment, the one where one finally decides to move forward toward what truly resembles us.
During our email interview on August 29, he let us know that this entry into music is not a detour, but a continuity. A way to broaden his universe, to connect image and sound, and to give a voice to what he was already telling in silence. And it is precisely this sincerity that gives his project a deeply human dimension.
1. You are known for your very cinematic visual universe and your 'French Livai' aesthetic. What drove you to move from image to music, and how does this new medium broaden your artistic identity?
The French Livai: "Hello, and thank you for this interview. Music has always held an important place in my life. As a child, I took a few piano lessons, but I had to stop to dedicate myself more to studies and sports, notably martial arts and karate. Today, I consume an enormous amount of music, in very different styles. And I think, in a way, I always end up creating what I consume. I have always loved experimenting, stepping out of my comfort zone, and proposing projects where people do not necessarily expect me. I find it interesting not to limit oneself to a single activity or a single label. I am primarily a content creator, but also an author, speaker, and now a singer. Society likes to define us by a single label. Me, I want to show that we can have several, and above all that we have the right to change them. Music represents a new extension of my artistic universe. It allows me to express certain things that I could not transmit solely through imagery."
2. Your new song marks an important step in your creative journey. What emotion or personal experience inspired this track, and why did you choose this moment to unveil it?
The French Livai: "On My Way is probably one of my most personal projects, because it echoes an enormous amount of experiences I have lived. All my life, people have often wanted to guide me toward trajectories that did not correspond to my deep desires. And I myself accepted certain choices that did not resemble me, simply to avoid appearing too different or to meet the expectations of others. With On My Way, I wanted to transmit the exact opposite: everyone should be free to choose their own path, even when it does not correspond to what others had imagined for us. We all have the right to dream, and above all to give ourselves a chance to realize those dreams. Perhaps they will seem crazy or unrealistic, but I think it is always better to try rather than spend your life wondering 'what if?'. That is what On My Way means to me: moving forward on one's own path, even when one does not know exactly where it leads."
3. You work between photography, video, fashion, and now music. How do these disciplines feed into each other when you create a track?
The French Livai: "For me, all these disciplines are linked. They are part of the same universe. On my networks, I speak primarily about Asian culture and Asian music. This inevitably influences my way of creating, whether in fashion, photography, video, or today music. In terms of fashion, I draw enormous inspiration from trends observed in South Korea, Japan, China, or Vietnam. For music, on the other hand, I start first with what it represents personally for me, then I seek to make this universe match with my visual identity. For On My Way, I wanted an atmosphere inspired by K-Dramas. The music video had to prolong the emotion of the track through sets, clothing, lighting, and storytelling. My strength comes from the fact that I rapidly visualize what I would like to see at the end of a project. This allows me then to work the process backward and plan each step, from the music right down to the final visual."
4. You spend a lot of time between Seoul and Tokyo. How have these environments influenced the atmosphere or production of your song?
The French Livai: "Seoul and Tokyo are two cities where I feel very good on a daily basis. Since my musical projects have numerous Asian influences, it felt natural to develop them directly on site. Changing frames stimulates my inspiration enormously. In Seoul, I also have the chance to work with people who live there, which facilitates exchanges. I prefer working in person rather than remotely. When you create something as personal as a song or a music video, it is important to have a shared vision and to be able to adjust immediately. For music production, working in a studio with a K-Pop producer was much simpler and faster. My recording session lasted less than two hours. For the music video, we filmed in several iconic locations in Seoul, notably around Seoul Forest. These sets matched perfectly with the ambiance I wanted to create. Tokyo allowed me more to develop the promotional part: filming, editing, and content creation. And above all, I feel sufficiently safe in Seoul as in Tokyo to create freely in public spaces. When you combine inspiration, accessibility, speed, and safety, this creates an ideal environment for creation."

5. Your song possesses an introspective and atmospheric ambiance. Can you describe its construction?
The French Livai: "To produce On My Way, I worked with Tae Cho, a K-Pop producer who has collaborated with various labels, including Aiming Music (EXO, TWICE). I presented him the artistic direction and the universe I wanted to give to the track. He then worked on the instrumental production. I had initially written the lyrics in French. We then adapted them into English and Korean, while preserving their meaning and musicality. A large part of the work had been carried out beforehand, which explains the speed of the recording session. As often in music, On My Way went through several versions before arriving at the one you hear today. On the emotional plane, I wanted a track in which everyone could recognize themselves. It speaks of the difficulty of choosing one's own path when the expectations of others become too present. I wanted to transcribe this idea in the music video through a conflictual relationship between the main character and his partner. Music tells a story, and images give it a second reading."
6. The public is discovering your voice for the first time. How did you work on your vocal identity?
The French Livai: "Before releasing my own track, I had already started working on my voice through several covers of K-Pop songs, notably by Jungkook (BTS) or TXT. I also took singing lessons in France with an opera teacher to better master my voice and understand my possibilities. But above all, I love experimenting. I do not want to limit myself to a single way of singing. For On My Way, I wanted a voice close to the listener, almost intimate, in order to create a sensation of proximity and vulnerability. I also wanted a duality: composed and introspective verses, then a more catchy and motivating chorus. This opposition between fragility and energy is at the core of the track. During recording, this interpretation imposed itself naturally. With my producer, we noted that it corresponded perfectly to the sought-after atmosphere."
7. How has your community reacted to this first musical release?
The French Livai: "The community welcomed the project very well. Certain subscribers even made a countdown before the official release, which touched me greatly. This showed that they were truly waiting to discover this new facet of my universe. I received an enormous amount of positive messages and encouragements. Some tell me they listen to the song every day. The messages that touch me the most come from people who tell me that my music accompanied them through a difficult period, or that my voice calms them. This is one of the most beautiful things one can receive as an artist: realizing that something created in one's own world can find a place in someone else's. If my music can help a person feel better, even for a few minutes, then all the work takes on its full meaning."
8. Releasing a track independently implies managing everything yourself. What was your biggest challenge?
The French Livai: "Creating a musical project of this scale independently is extremely demanding. Most of the time, I am alone thinking about the entire project. To find contributors, I had to pitch the people myself with whom I wanted to work. On My Way is my first original project built entirely from scratch. I had to manage the artistic direction, emotion, music production, coordination, filming, creation of promotional content, release strategy, and publication. I probably shouldered the role of seven people all by myself. And afterward, I wonder why I am close to burnout. (laughs) The biggest challenge was to advance all these aspects simultaneously, while respecting everyone's availability. The project was built in only one month. For a musical project of this scale, with such a small team, it is extremely short. This experience taught me that having an artistic vision is one thing, but turning it into a concrete project requires an organizational capacity almost as important as creativity."
9. Does this song pave the way for a broader project?
The French Livai: "I would very much like to continue this musical adventure and create projects that build a bridge between France and South Korea, and more broadly between France and Asia. I would also like to establish regularity in my releases. But as an independent artist, each project requires time, energy, and a significant financial investment. If I had the choice, I would like to build an EP with several titles, each with its own identity, but linked by a guiding thread. I wish to continue singing principally in English, while integrating more French, Korean, or even Japanese depending on the tracks. The idea would be to build a musical universe in the image of my journey: a dialogue between France and Asia."
10. What message do you wish to transmit to people discovering you through this song?
The French Livai: "I hope On My Way will have been able to resonate within you. If it can soothe you, accompany you in a difficult moment, or give you the courage to take a path that truly corresponds to you, then I will have accomplished a part of what I wanted to transmit. The only real limit is often the one we impose on ourselves, and not the one that society or our entourage try to impose on us. You have the right to dream. You have the right to change direction. You have even the right to take a path that nobody understands. So dare to give yourself a chance.
