Soko Kim: A Creator Who Reflects the Spirit of the K‑Influencer Program

Discover Soko Kim, a passionate Korean creator based in France, who naturally builds authentic cultural bridges through food, daily life, and personal stories.

Interview by Jason Edwards · 2026

The K‑Influencer program from KOCIS is something you hear about a lot when you follow Korean culture online, but when you look at it closely, it’s actually much simpler and more human than what people imagine. It’s basically a group of creators from everywhere who all talk about Korea in their own way. Some people focus on food because that’s what they know best, others talk about daily life, travel, small habits, or even the funny things you only notice when you live abroad. There isn’t one single style. Everyone brings their own background, their own way of speaking, their own little details.

What I found interesting is that the program doesn’t try to make everyone follow the same format. They give some guidance, sure, a few workshops, sometimes themes, but nobody tells you how you “should” talk about Korea. You keep your voice, your tone, your way of explaining things. And that’s probably why the whole thing feels real when you look at the content. You can scroll for ten minutes and you’ll see ten completely different ways of showing the country. Some videos are polished, others are more spontaneous, some are funny, some are calm. It feels like a mix of real people, not a coordinated campaign.

The idea behind the program is pretty simple: helping people discover Korea in a way that feels honest, not like a brochure or a trend. And meeting Soko on June 20, 2026, at Korea Expo in Porte de Versailles made that even clearer. He doesn’t try to act like an expert or someone who wants to “represent” Korea officially. He just shares what he knows, what he likes, and what he experiences as a Korean living in France. And honestly, that’s exactly the kind of creator the program seems to encourage — people who build bridges naturally, without forcing anything, simply by being themselves and talking about what matters to them.

1. Could you introduce yourself and explain what led you to create content about Korean culture?

Soko Kim: “My name is Soko. I’m a Korean living in France, and I mainly share content about Korean culture, food, travel and lifestyle. At first, I simply wanted to share my culture with French people and create a bridge between the two countries. I realized that many people were curious about Korea, but sometimes only knew it through K‑pop or dramas. I wanted to show a more authentic Korea — its traditions, food, values and daily life.”

2. You often share Korean recipes. What inspires you in Korean cuisine?

Soko Kim: “What I love about Korean food is that every dish tells a story. It’s not just eating — it’s sharing. Many dishes are connected to family, childhood memories or important moments. I also love the balance of flavors: spicy, salty, sweet, fermented… It’s a very alive cuisine.”

3. Which Korean dishes should French people absolutely try at least once?

Soko Kim: “First, Korean barbecue — because it’s a real social experience. You cook together, you share everything. And of course, kimchi. It’s the identity of Korean cuisine. Many French people are surprised at first, but they often become fans.”

4. You also give advice for traveling to Korea. What are the three essential things to know before going?

Soko Kim: “First, come with curiosity and accept that some habits are different. Second, prepare your trip a little: transport, useful apps, places you want to visit. Third, go beyond the tourist spots. Korea is amazing when you explore local neighborhoods, small restaurants, cafés and everyday life.”

5. What surprises French visitors the most when they discover Korea for the first time?

Soko Kim: “Often the mix of modernity and tradition. You see ultra‑modern buildings and advanced technology, but also temples, traditions and a deep respect for history. People are also surprised by the safety, cleanliness and the fast pace of life.”

6. How do you choose the topics you highlight on your social media?

Soko Kim: “I choose topics that can create a connection between Korea and France. I always ask myself: ‘Will this teach something? Will it make people want to discover Korea?’ I also like to start from simple daily moments — small cultural differences are often the most interesting.”

7. As a Korean creator living in France, how do you see the growing interest of French people in Korean culture?

Soko Kim: “It has changed a lot in the last five years. Before, many people only knew Korea through K‑pop or dramas. Now they want to understand the culture, learn the language, travel, discover the food. It’s a real opportunity to create more exchanges between the two cultures.”

8. What aspect of Korea would you like to show more to the French public?

Soko Kim: “I want to show more of everyday Korea — not only the popular places or perfect images online, but the small moments: how people live, work, eat together, family values, respect for others. It’s often in these details that you really understand a country.”

9. What message do you want to convey through your videos and content?

Soko Kim: “My goal is to create curiosity and bring cultures closer together — to become an ambassador of this beautiful cultural bridge between France and Korea. I want people to watch a video and think: ‘I learned something today’ or ‘I want to discover this culture.’ For me, content is a way to create encounters between people.”

10. What are your future projects?

Soko Kim: “I want to continue growing this community and create even bigger projects around Korean culture. I would like to produce more immersive content, travel more in Korea to show lesser‑known places, and maybe create projects that bring France and Korea even closer.”

Through his work, Soko Kim represents a new generation of cultural creators — people who use digital platforms not only to entertain, but to educate, connect and build bridges between cultures. His approach aligns naturally with the values of the K‑Influencer program, and his growing influence shows how meaningful cultural exchange can be when it is driven by authenticity and passion.
