Their story begins in the electric atmosphere of Phantom Singer 3, a place where soloists meet, challenge each other, and reveal themselves. Amidst this competition, classical singers with different backgrounds discovered that their voices could answer each other, complement one another, and blend with an almost unsettling obviousness. A harmony born spontaneously, as if waiting for this precise moment to exist. From this encounter was born La Poem, a name that already carries a vision: the freedom of La Bohème, the poetry of a Poem, and the deep desire to leave a soft and lasting trace in the hearts of those who listen to them.
What distinguishes La Poem is their way of turning each song into an inner stage. Their music crosses genres without ever losing its soul. Classical, pop, rock, OST... everything becomes material to tell a story, draw an emotion, offer a refuge. Their strength comes not only from their impeccable technique, but from this rare capacity to make people feel. To make them vibrate. To bring an experience to life.
On August 25, 2026, we exchanged written responses for this interview. A remote conversation, yet surprisingly intimate, where each member took the time to answer with a depth that perfectly reflects their artistic identity. Through their words, we find the same sincerity as in their harmonies: a willingness to share, to transmit, to touch.
Today, as new concerts, new collaborations, and new international adventures are being prepared, La Poem continues to trace a rare path: that of a music that is not consumed, but lived. A music that accompanies, consoles, elevates. A music that stays.
Meeting La Poem means entering a universe where the voice becomes light, where the stage becomes a refuge, where each harmony resembles a memory we have not yet lived.
1. Can you introduce La Poem and tell us about the formation of the group?
You Chaehoon: La Poem is a crossover group formed in 2020 after winning the show Phantom Singer 3. The four members all come from a classical vocal background, and our different vocal ranges and personalities allow us to reinterpret genres such as classical music, pop, rock, or film scores with La Poem's unique color. The group's name combines the French "La Bohème" and the English "Poem", meaning: "to live like free artists and create music that stays in people's hearts like a poem".
Choi Sunghoon: La Poem is a crossover group formed in 2020 thanks to Phantom Singer 3. We all studied classical singing, and our victory in the show allowed us to continue our journey together. We were soloists coming from very different backgrounds, and when we sang together for the first time, an unexpected music was born. That moment represents the striking beginning of La Poem.
Jeong Minseong: We are a crossover vocal group formed through Phantom Singer 3. Four classical singers with different personalities came together. The group's name combines La Bohème and Poem, with the idea of creating music that stays a long time in the public's heart, like a poem.
2. What is the musical color and vocal style La Poem strives for?
You Chaehoon: We keep classical music as our root, but without locking ourselves into a single genre. We seek to express our own narrative through our different voices and dramatic harmonies.
Choi Sunghoon: La Poem's music has a dramatic side. Thanks to our classical training, we have a great expressive range: from very delicate moments to explosive passages. We like to create music that tells a story, like a living stage. Regardless of the genre, we want to show narration and emotions in a three-dimensional way.
Jeong Minseong: We make music based on classical foundations, but across various genres. Our strength is maintaining our vocal identity while being able to adapt to any style.
3. Can you tell us about your recent activities or upcoming projects?
You Chaehoon: Our annual concert LA POEM SYMPHONY is scheduled for the end of the year, and we are also preparing overseas concerts. In October, I will also release my solo album and hold a personal concert.
Choi Sunghoon: We continue to meet the public through concerts and events, and we are preparing new music and performances. La Poem is a group whose live energy is very different from recordings. We hope to meet more audiences, including abroad.
Jeong Minseong: We recently finished our signature concert La La Land: NEW ERA. We also worked on the soundtrack for the game Dungeon & Fighter. We are currently preparing our overseas activities and upcoming concerts in Korea.
4. What have you felt working in the Korean classical and crossover market?
You Chaehoon: The boundary between crossover and popular music has softened a lot. We meet very diverse audiences, and this reminds us that the essential thing is to present sincere music and an authentic performance.
Choi Sunghoon: Korean audiences naturally welcome very different styles. In the same concert, we sing classical, pop, rock, OSTs... They don't focus on the genre, but on the quality of the music. This allows us to explore further without limiting ourselves.
Jeong Minseong: The boundary between classical and crossover is gradually disappearing. Audiences love multiple genres, which gives us more opportunities to try and present different music.
5. What message do you want to convey through your music?
You Chaehoon: What we want to convey above all is sincerity. Music can sometimes offer consolation or a deeper emotion than words. We hope our songs bring comfort, energy, and stay in hearts like a poem.
Choi Sunghoon: We do not seek to impose a single message. The same song can be a consolation for some, a source of energy for others. We want everyone to find their own story in our music.
Jeong Minseong: We want to convey strength and comfort. When fans tell us our songs help them, it also gives us the strength to keep going.
6. A message for your international fans?
You Chaehoon: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love, even from afar. Music transcends borders, and knowing that our songs touch you gives us a lot of strength. We hope to meet you in more countries.
Choi Sunghoon: It is always incredible and touching to learn that fans abroad listen to our music. We sing in multiple languages, and this creates unexpected connections. We would one day love to reinterpret songs familiar to each country, directly on site.
Jeong Minseong: We are surprised and grateful to see fans know us in so many countries. We are actively preparing opportunities to meet you. We are coming soon, wait for us!
7. What do you focus on the most during musical creation?
You Chaehoon: We think a lot about how to combine our different voices into a harmonious and rich sound. We want to best convey the emotion and story of each piece.
Choi Sunghoon: We always ask ourselves: "Why must La Poem sing this piece?" We want to bring a new emotion or stage, different from the original.
Jeong Minseong: We sing each piece with sincerity. We want our songs to touch listeners' hearts while keeping our identity.

8. How do you work together as a group?
You Chaehoon: We first discuss the mood and message of the piece. We build the parts and harmonies while respecting each other's strengths. We constantly adjust by exchanging our ideas.
Choi Sunghoon: We all have very different musical tastes, so discussions are numerous. We seek the best direction together, sometimes different from what was initially imagined.
Jeong Minseong: Our musical preferences differ, so we talk a lot. Sometimes the result exceeds our expectations, even if the path is different from what we had imagined.
9. Is there a new genre or musical direction you want to explore?
You Chaehoon: We want to try new music that matches our voices, while keeping our classical base.
Choi Sunghoon: We have already explored many genres. Today, we want to strengthen what makes La Poem's identity and create pieces that become our signature.
Jeong Minseong: We are ready to try any genre if it highlights our strengths. One day, we would like people to say: "La Poem is a genre in itself".
10. What are your long-term objectives and projects?
You Chaehoon: To continue for a long time with La Poem, presenting good music and great performances. We want to broaden our presence, in Korea and abroad, and become a group that stays in the public's heart.
Choi Sunghoon: We want to create music that stays, that people re-listen to over time, and that becomes references. We want to be a group whose next music is always anticipated.
Jeong Minseong: We want to seize all opportunities to show our music. And become a group whose memories remain beautiful and precious to fans.
