When I conducted this interview—in writing, during their tour in the United States in August 2026—I immediately felt that their story deserved to be brought to light. Even from a distance, their sincerity crosses the words. They do not play a role, they do not try to conform to a perfect image: they are simply themselves, and that is what strikes you first.
What sets FiveAlive apart is not an extravagant concept or an overproduced aesthetic. It is their humanity. They speak frankly, laugh among themselves, and complement each other naturally. You feel an authentic complicity, a dynamic that never sounds artificial. They move forward together, with the pride of being Asian-American in a global industry, and with a creative freedom that suits them.
Their journey has not been easy. They talk without detours about the years of training, the delays, the moments when doubt sets in. And then there are those memories that show how much they have always had something special. Like this scene in Sweden: a studio, endless rehearsals, and children glued to the windows, holding up papers to ask for autographs. Pre-debut. Before recognition. Before everything. This moment, they recount it with a tenderness that says a lot about what they have been through.
Each member brings a unique color: Jia, the leader who holds the course. Ellie, the softness that soothes. Nini, the boldness that cuts through. Ciara, the calm presence that reassures. Bay, the light that makes everyone smile.
And now, they are about to take an important step. On September 18, FiveAlive will unveil a new single—a project they experience as an affirmation, an evolution, a way of showing who they are becoming. They talk about it with a sincere, almost childlike excitement, as if they were watching their ideas come to life before their eyes.
FiveAlive is only at the beginning of their story, but they already possess what many groups take years to build: a clear identity, a solid unity, and an authentic relationship with their fans. Their path is just beginning, and yet, it already has that something that promises to grow, surprise, and touch.
1. How would you describe FiveAlive’s concept and identity?
FiveAlive:As a group, we bring a lot of freedom and creativity while having fun through our music. Our concept revolves around pop, a style that reflects our personalities as a group. We hope the public feels how sincere we are on stage. We are proud to represent the Asian-American community while doing what we love!
2. What has been the most memorable moment since your debut?
FiveAlive:One of our most striking memories dates back to Sweden. There, we practiced for hours in a studio where there were also children. On one of the last days before our return, they all stuck to the windows with papers to ask for our autographs. It was before our debut! We loved signing for all these children, it was such an adorable and precious moment.
3. What personal strength does each member bring to the group?
FiveAlive:Each member has their own strength, both in personality and in work. Jia is our reliable leader! She knows how to guide us in the right direction, no matter the situation. Ellie is a comforting and strong soul. She will always be there to listen to you and make you feel understood. Nini is the most daring. She is never afraid to speak her mind and always goes straight to the point. Ciara is our calm in the middle of the storm! She stays by your side so you never feel alone. Bay is our ray of sunshine. She keeps everyone smiling, even in the most chaotic moments.
4. What part of preparing for a comeback is the most difficult or exciting?
FiveAlive:One of the most exciting parts is creating the music video or developing the song concept. We prepare long before the release, but the music video brings our ideas to life. It's like seeing our work and imagination materialize, and it's truly exhilarating!

5. What concept or style would you like to try for a future comeback?
Jia:I'd love to do something reminiscent of one of my pop idols. Right now, I'm very inspired by Beyoncé. It would be amazing to have a track with a huge marching band, like her Coachella performance.
Ellie:A dark and mysterious concept, almost spooky/supernatural.
Nini:I would like to try a pop rock concept.
Ciara:I would love to try a hyperpop concept!
Bay:I'd like to try rock!
6. How do you feel about the support of international fans?
FiveAlive:We are extremely grateful and fortunate to have the support of the 4Lifers everywhere in the world. We see their comments, their edits, their love online, and we can't wait to meet them one day!
7. Who is the funniest or most unpredictable during rehearsals?
Jia:I think all members are funny! We always laugh the most when we are together.
Ellie:The funniest is Jia. The most unpredictable is Bay.
Nini:For me, the funniest is Jia, and the most unpredictable, surprisingly, is Ciara.
Ciara:I think the funniest is Jia, and the most unpredictable is Nini, because of her random 'side quests' that she tells us about.
Bay:I think Jia is the funniest.
8. What message do you want to convey through your music and performances?
FiveAlive:We hope the 4Lifers find comfort in our music and feel inspired while listening to us. We want everyone to have fun and fully enjoy our performances!
9. What has been the biggest challenge for FiveAlive, and how did you overcome it?
FiveAlive:One of our biggest challenges was the waiting period before our debut. We trained very hard for years and faced obstacles and delays, which was morally difficult. Keeping our focus on the final goal, finding moments to be grateful for where we were, and trying to maintain a positive mindset helped us get through that period. Today, we look back on those memories with affection.
10. What is your most precious memory with your fans?
FiveAlive:There are so many! One of the most precious was on stage, when we heard the 4Lifers creating their own fan-chant for our song Umami. They are so precious to us, and we love their creativity.
